About the game

Critter Derby turns any group decision into a race. Everyone gets a random animal, and the animals run on their own. Along the way they faceplant, slip and spin out, tumble head over heels, sneeze, fall asleep, dance before the finish or run the wrong way. Each animal also has a special move, like the penguin's belly slide or the hedgehog's spiky roll, so the order can flip right up to the line.

There are 16 animals and 6 tracks, from Sunny Meadow to Moonlight Fair. The animals have different running styles. Some start fast and fade, others are slow early and strong late. They were balanced over thousands of simulated races so every animal wins about equally often.

How to play

• Type a name and press Enter, or paste several names separated by commas.
• Add the wager if you like. It shows on the results screen next to the last-place finisher.
• Press Draw animals & go to the track, then Start race.
• After the race, rematch on a new track or draw new animals.

Questions

Is the race fair?

Yes. Results are random each race, and every animal has roughly the same chance to win over many races.

Can I play in another language?

Yes. Pick English, 한국어 or 日本語 at the top of the game's first screen.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. For the best view on a phone, turn it sideways or use “Open game only”.

Do my names get saved?

Names and the wager are remembered only in your own browser so you don't retype them. Nothing is sent to us.
